The A/B/C grading system is unique to the Chinese jewelry industry, referring to different levels of artificial treatment applied to jadeite.
Grade A: Only cut and polished. Shows natural vitreous luster, visible "jade character," and natural color transitions. Has collectible and investment value.
Grade B: Soaked in strong acid to remove impurities, then filled with resin. May show waxy luster and "spider web" patterns on surface. Resin degrades over time.
Grade C: Artificially dyed. Color may be overly uniform and bright, with color concentrating in cracks. Color may fade over time.
Grade B+C: Both acid-washed/filled and dyed. Combines characteristics of both B and C grades.
