As one of the highlights of this autumn sale, the jadeite artworks special session performed exceptionally well, with multiple exquisite pieces fetching high prices, once again affirming the strong position of high-end jadeite in the art market. The total transaction value of this jadeite special session reached RMB 380 million, with a remarkable sell-through rate of 92.5%, significantly exceeding market expectations and demonstrating collectors' continued pursuit of fine jadeite.
Among the most striking items in this autumn auction was a jadeite pendant named “Imperial Green Longevity and Prosperity Plaque”. Starting at RMB 50 million, after nearly 20 rounds of fierce bidding, it finally hammered for a staggering RMB 82 million, an impressive premium rate of 64%. According to the auction house, this pendant boasts excellent clarity, texture, and color, coupled with exquisite craftsmanship, and weighs 80 carats, making it a rare masterpiece in the market in recent years. Another “Ice-type Sunny Green Bangle” also sold for RMB 45 million, an increase of 25% over its estimate. Its delicate texture and rich color also garnered enthusiastic bidding from collectors.
Overall, the average premium rate for this jadeite special session reached 32%, an increase of 5 percentage points compared to the same period last year. High-quality (glass-type, ice-type, high-ice-type) jadeite pieces with rich colors (imperial green, sunny green, clear water green) performed particularly well, with transaction prices generally exceeding estimates. While some jadeite ornaments with average clarity and lighter colors also sold, their premium potential was relatively limited, indicating that the market's valuation of jadeite is becoming increasingly rational and professional.
Mr. Li Ming, a senior jadeite market analyst, stated in an interview: “The success of Xiling Yinshe's jadeite special session in this autumn auction once again proves the scarcity and value preservation and appreciation attributes of high-end jadeite artworks. In the current complex and volatile global economic environment, top-tier jadeite, as a hard currency, its hedge function and investment value are becoming increasingly prominent. Collectors are more inclined to invest in jadeite masterpieces with clear provenance, perfect condition, and unique artistic value.”
Ms. Zhang Hua, head of the jade department at Xiling Yinshe Auction Co., Ltd., also pointed out: “We have observed that younger generations of collectors are gradually increasing their interest in jadeite. They not only pay attention to the material itself but also place more emphasis on its design and cultural connotations. In the future, jadeite artworks that integrate traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics and possess unique storytelling will be more favored.”
