Among its various sessions, the “Condensing Emerald Glow – High-End Bi Yu Jade Treasures” special session once again demonstrated the strong potential of high-quality Bi Yu jade in the art market with its exceptional sales performance. This session featured 88 meticulously selected Bi Yu jade lots, with 79 ultimately sold, achieving an impressive sell-through rate of 89.77%. The total transaction value reached RMB 185 million, marking a 15.6% increase compared to the Bi Yu jade special session in the same period last year.
Several prominent lots in this session garnered significant attention. Among them, a Hetian Bi Yu jade piece titled “Ink Jade Embracing Green – Landscape Pattern Large Ornament,” with its delicate texture, deep dark green hue, and exquisite relief carving of landscapes, became the focal point of the entire auction. Estimated between RMB 18 million and RMB 25 million, after multiple rounds of intense bidding, it finally sold for RMB 32.5 million, an impressive premium of 30%, setting a new auction record for Bi Yu jade ornaments in the past three years. Another piece, a “Spinach Green Bi Yu Jade Carved Auspicious Beast Knob Seal,” with its rare color and intricate carving, soared from an estimated RMB 5 million to a final transaction price of RMB 9.8 million, highlighting collectors' pursuit of fine Bi Yu jade.
Overall, the Bi Yu jade special session exhibited two distinct characteristics: firstly, high-quality, rare-colored Bi Yu jade lots were highly sought after, with transaction prices significantly exceeding estimates; secondly, the attention to small and medium-sized exquisite Bi Yu jade pieces continued to increase, with transaction prices showing steady growth. Notably, lots with transaction prices ranging from RMB 1 million to RMB 5 million accounted for 45% of the total, indicating robust market demand for mid-range fine Bi Yu jade.
Mr. Li Ming, a seasoned auction industry journalist and jade market analyst, pointed out: “The success of this Poly Autumn Auction's Bi Yu jade session is not accidental.
