【Hangzhou, November 20, 2026】The highly anticipated Xiling Yinshe 2026 Autumn Auction concluded successfully yesterday. This autumn auction continued Xiling Yinshe's consistent focus on high-quality items, with the “Scholars' Objects and Jade Special Session” performing particularly well, achieving a total turnover of RMB 128 million and a high transaction rate of 89.5%, fully demonstrating the resilience and vitality of the high-end jade scholars' objects market.
This jade special session presented a total of 120 exquisite lots, covering various materials such as Hetian jade, jadeite, and Shoushan stone, including brush pots, paperweights, seals, and water droppers. Among them, a Qing Dynasty Qianlong white jade carved “Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove” brush pot fetched a remarkable RMB 28 million, significantly exceeding its pre-auction estimate of RMB 18 million, with a premium rate of 55.6%. The brush pot's exquisite carving, warm jade quality, and elegant theme, along with its rarity and artistic value, were highly recognized by collectors. Another mid-Qing Dynasty Shoushan stone carved “Nine Dragons Playing with a Pearl” paperweight also sold for a high price of RMB 12.5 million, an increase of 56.3% from its estimate of RMB 8 million, indicating the strong performance of Shoushan stone masterpieces in the market.
From the overall data, the average unit price of this jade scholars' objects special session reached RMB 1.066 million, an increase of approximately 15% compared to the average unit price of similar sessions at Xiling Yinshe's autumn auction in the same period last year. This data suggests that despite global economic uncertainties, top-tier artworks and rare material scholars' objects remain preferred options for capital preservation and value investment. Especially items with historical provenance, famous previous collections, or unique craftsmanship show even more significant potential for value growth.
Mr. Wang, General Manager of Xiling Yinshe Auction Co., Ltd., stated in an interview: “The success of this autumn auction's jade scholars' objects special session once again confirms collectors' deep affection for traditional Chinese culture and art, and their pursuit of high-quality resources. We have observed that the market demand for jade scholars' objects with excellent condition, clear provenance, and rich cultural connotations continues to be strong. Future market trends will place greater emphasis on the artistic quality, rarity, and cultural narrative of the lots.”
Professor Li, a senior jade appraisal expert and director of the China Gem & Jade Association, commented: “The transaction data from this autumn auction is encouraging, especially the better-than-expected performance of multiple high-estimated lots, reflecting that the high-end jade scholars' objects market is in a steady upward channel. Collectors are becoming more mature, rationally pursuing artistic value and collection potential rather than blindly following trends. In the next few years, we expect high-quality Hetian jade 'zi料' (pebble material), high-grade jadeite, and Shoushan stone carved by renowned artists to continue their strong performance, but market differentiation will also intensify, with common items and those lacking unique characteristics potentially facing greater challenges.”
Looking ahead, with the continuous development of the Chinese economy and the enhancement of cultural confidence, jade scholars' objects, as important carriers of excellent traditional Chinese culture, will further highlight their collection value and investment attributes. Xiling Yinshe will continue to deeply cultivate this field, presenting more exquisite items with artistic, historical, and investment value to collectors, leading the market to a higher level of development.
