【Beijing, May 18, 2026】China Guardian's 2026 Spring Auction concluded successfully yesterday, with the highly anticipated 'Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite' special session performing exceptionally well. The total transaction value reached RMB 285 million, an 18.7% increase compared to the same period last year, and the sell-through rate was as high as 82.5%, indicating a strong rebound in the high-end jadeite jewelry market.

This special session featured 120 exquisite lots, with several high-quality jadeite pieces becoming the focus of the entire auction. The leading lot, an 'Imperial Green Jadeite Bead Necklace,' composed of 38 imperial green jadeite beads ranging from 12.5mm to 14.8mm in diameter, boasting rich and even color and fine, warm texture, was finally hammered at RMB 88 million, significantly exceeding its pre-sale estimate (RMB 60 million - 75 million), with a premium rate of 17.3%. It was acquired by an anonymous Asian collector. Another 'Icy Green Jadeite Bangle,' with excellent clarity and vibrant green color, sold for RMB 32 million, an increase of approximately 15% compared to similar lots last year. Additionally, a 'Glassy Icy White Jadeite Cabochon and Diamond Necklace and Earring Set' also fetched a high price of RMB 18.5 million, demonstrating the market's continued pursuit of colorless high-icy jadeite.

From the transaction data, several significant characteristics emerged from this spring auction's jadeite jewelry special session:

  • High-Quality Jadeite Value Remains Strong: Top-tier jadeite, such as Imperial Green, high-icy, and glassy varieties, regardless of appearance, clarity, or color, as long as they reach collection grade, their market value remains robust, even repeatedly setting new highs. This indicates that collectors' pursuit of scarce resources has never stopped.

  • Increased Activity in the Mid-to-High-End Market: In addition to top lots, mid-to-high-end jadeite jewelry with estimates between RMB 5 million and RMB 20 million also performed well, with significant increases in both sell-through rates and premium rates, reflecting the increased activity of market capital and purchasing power.

  • Emphasis on Design and Craftsmanship: In this auction, some uniquely designed and exquisitely crafted jadeite inlaid jewelry also gained favor with collectors, with transaction prices generally higher than plain jadeite of the same material, indicating that while pursuing the intrinsic value of the material, collectors are increasingly paying attention to artistry and wearability.

Commenting on the auction results, Professor Li Ming, a renowned jewelry appraisal expert and market analyst, stated: "The success of China Guardian's jadeite jewelry special session undoubtedly injected a shot in the arm for the entire industry. After two years of market adjustment, we see that the investment attributes and collection value of high-end jadeite have once again been validated. Especially rare varieties like Imperial Green, their scarcity determines their long-term potential for value preservation and appreciation. At the same time, the pursuit of design and fashion by the younger generation of collectors has also prompted the market to demand higher artistic processing of jadeite."

Mr. Zhang Hua, a senior auction house consultant, also pointed out: "The transaction data from this auction indicates that market confidence in the economic outlook is gradually recovering. High-end art and luxury goods, as part of asset allocation, their hedging and value-added functions are particularly important in the current environment. It is expected that in the next two years, with the stable growth of the global economy, the jadeite jewelry market will continue to maintain a steady upward trend, and high-quality, rare lots will remain the focus of market pursuit."

Looking ahead, with the continuous development of China's economy and the improvement of consumer aesthetics, the jadeite jewelry market will become more segmented and diversified. In addition to traditional high-end collectibles, fashionable jadeite jewelry that combines design and wearability will also have broader market space. Auction houses, when selecting lots, need to pay more attention to the balance between quality, rarity, artistry, and market demand to meet the needs of collectors at different levels.
