【Hangzhou News】The highly anticipated Xiling Yinshe 2026 Autumn Auction recently concluded successfully. Among them, the “Jade-like Sound of Gold – Ancient Chinese Jade and Hetian Jade Masterpieces” special session performed exceptionally well, with a total transaction value reaching RMB 185 million and a transaction rate of 89.5%. This once again confirms the strong collection demand and investment value of the high-end Hetian jade market. This auction presented a total of 120 carefully selected lots, many of which were sold at prices far exceeding their estimates, attracting widespread attention from the industry.
The most eye-catching item in this special session was a “Qing Dynasty Qianlong Period Hetian Jade Seed Material Auspicious Beast Ornament.” With its warm jade quality, exquisite craftsmanship, and auspicious symbolism, after several rounds of fierce bidding, it finally sold for RMB 38 million, nearly 90% above its estimated price of RMB 20 million, becoming the highest-priced lot of the session. Another item, a “Ming Dynasty Hetian White Jade Carved Chilong Pattern Washer,” also sold for RMB 15 million, exceeding its estimate by RMB 5 million, an increase of 200%. In addition, several other significant Hetian jade seed material rough stones and carved pieces also performed well, such as a “Hetian jade seed material rough stone weighing 1.5 kilograms,” which ultimately sold for RMB 8.5 million, an increase of 70% over its estimate. Overall, the average premium rate of this auction reached 45%, demonstrating the strong pursuit of high-quality Hetian jade in the market.
Mr. Zhang Hua, head of the Jade Department at Xiling Yinshe Auction Co., Ltd., stated in an interview: “The success of this Hetian jade special session once again proves the stability and appreciation potential of the jade market, especially high-end Hetian jade seed material. Collectors are increasingly demanding in terms of jade quality, craftsmanship, subject matter, and clarity of origin, with a growing emphasis on exquisite pieces. In the future, we will continue to cultivate this field and bring more treasures with both artistic and collection value to collectors.”
From a market analysis perspective, the Hetian jade market in the 2026 autumn auction exhibited several notable characteristics: Firstly, the scarcity of top-grade Hetian jade seed material resources became even more prominent, with prices remaining firm and showing a steady upward trend. Especially those “old mine” seed materials with delicate jade quality, natural skin color, and exquisite carving have become the focus of collectors' competition. Secondly, the market is increasingly valuing the cultural connotation and historical value of jade artifacts. Jade artifacts with clear provenance, historical allusions, or unique cultural meanings often fetch high prices. Finally, a new generation of collectors is emerging, who pay more attention to the artistic and design sense of jade artifacts. This has also led to good market performance for some works by contemporary jade carving masters, becoming a new growth point in the market.
Professor Li Ming, a senior jade market analyst, pointed out: “The success of Xiling Yinshe's autumn auction is a microcosm of the shift in asset allocation preferences among high-net-worth individuals in the current macroeconomic environment. Against the backdrop of increasing uncertainty, Hetian jade, which possesses both value preservation and appreciation attributes as well as cultural and artistic value, is becoming an important safe-haven asset and investment target. It is expected that in the next few years, the price of high-quality Hetian jade will continue to rise, but market differentiation will be more pronounced. The prices of ordinary quality jade artifacts may fluctuate, while the value of top-tier scarce resources will continue to climb.”
Looking ahead, with the revival of traditional Chinese culture and consumption upgrading, the Hetian jade market is expected to remain active. However, market participants also need to be wary of counterfeit and shoddy products and pay attention to the risks behind market hotspots. Professional institutional appraisal and evaluation, as well as collectors' own connoisseurship, will be key to determining investment success.
