Hey sisters! 👋 It's your old jade friend—Appraisal Expert Says Jade! Today, we're not talking about appraisal, but about a topic everyone cares about: "nurturing jade," especially our beloved jade bangles! 💖

Many people think that once you buy a jade bangle, you just wear it, but that's not the case! Jade is "alive"; it needs your care and nourishment to become more luminous with wear, and even double in value! I've been in this industry for over 20 years and have seen too many jade pieces lose their luster due to improper care, and also heirloom pieces that shine brightly after meticulous nurturing. Today, I'm going to share my exclusive secrets with you without reservation!

🌟 The "Three Dos and Three Don'ts" Principle for Jade Bangle Care

I. Three Dos:

  • Do "play" with it: Here, "play" doesn't mean rubbing it like walnuts, but rather wearing it frequently. The oils and sweat secreted by human skin are the best natural nourishment for jade. They can penetrate into the tiny structures of the jade, filling micro-cracks, and enhancing the jade's transparency and luster, which we often refer to as "developing fluorescence" or "developing a gelatinous feel." I had a client whose ordinary glutinous jade bangle, worn for over a decade, now looks like it has the translucency of ice jade. This is the best example of "people nurturing jade"!

  • Do "clean" it: Don't think that just wearing it means it doesn't need cleaning. In daily life, the bangle's surface will accumulate dust, sweat, cosmetic residue, etc. These impurities not only affect its appearance but also, if left for a long time, can corrode the jade's surface. My advice is to wipe it with clean water and a soft cloth at least once a week. If there's a lot of dirt, you can dilute a neutral detergent (like baby body wash) and gently brush it with a soft brush, then rinse with clean water, and finally wipe dry with a clean soft cloth. Remember, make sure it's completely dry to avoid moisture remaining in the crevices.

  • Do "avoid shocks": Although jade has high hardness (Mohs hardness 6.5-7), its toughness is relatively poor, making it very susceptible to drops and bumps. An accidental collision can cause irreparable cracks or chips. Therefore, when doing housework, exercising, or lifting heavy objects, it's best to remove the bangle and store it properly. I've seen too many cases where bangles broke due to accidental bumps while washing dishes or moving, which is heartbreaking! 💔

II. Three Don'ts:

  • Don't "expose to high heat and strong sunlight": Jade contains a certain amount of water internally. Prolonged exposure to high heat and strong sunlight can cause it to dehydrate, making its structure loose, and its color dull and lifeless. So, do not place your bangle in direct sunlight, and do not wear it in saunas or hot springs. When going out in summer, try to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

  • Don't "contact chemicals": Strong acids, strong alkalis, and other chemical substances are highly corrosive to jade, damaging its structure and luster. Therefore, when showering, washing dishes, or applying makeup, try to avoid your bangle coming into contact with shampoo, body wash, dish soap, perfume, cosmetics, etc. If it's unavoidable, be sure to rinse it thoroughly with clean water afterward.

  • Don't "mix with hard objects": When not wearing your bangle, be sure to store it separately, preferably wrapped in a soft cloth or jewelry pouch, and placed in an independent jewelry box. Avoid mixing it with keys, metal jewelry, and other hard objects to prevent scratches or damage from friction.

💡 My Personal Experience Sharing

I usually keep a dedicated jade jewelry box, lined with soft velvet. Every time I take off a jade bangle, I gently wipe it with a clean soft cloth before putting it in. If I don't wear it for a long time, I also regularly take it out and rinse it with clean water to let it "breathe."

Furthermore, regarding the idea of "oiling" jade, I personally do not recommend it. Some merchants on the market recommend oiling jade, but if the oil is impure or the operation is improper, it can clog the jade's pores and affect its light transmission. The best "oil" is the natural oil secreted by our human body!

📝 Summary

Caring for a jade bangle essentially boils down to "cherishing" it. If you treat it well, it will naturally repay you with its most beautiful form. Remember the "Three Dos and Three Don'ts" principle, coupled with your meticulous care, and I believe your jade bangle will become more beautiful with wear, becoming the most dazzling scenery on your wrist!
