My first core viewpoint is: jade investment has entered an era of "value回归 and selective acquisition." In the past, the market might have had some irrationality, and some mediocre quality jade was once hyped. But now, with the improvement of investors' knowledge and the transparency of market information, people's understanding of jade is more rational. This means that future jade investment will focus more on its intrinsic value.

What is intrinsic value? I summarize it as "three highs and one scarcity": high quality, high cultural added value, high craftsmanship, and scarcity.

Firstly, high quality. This is undoubtedly true. Whether it's the "type, clarity, color, and craftsmanship" of jadeite, or the "luster, fineness, stickiness, and whiteness" of Hetian jade, quality is always the foundation that determines value. Taking jadeite as an example, in recent years, ice-kind and glass-kind jadeite, especially those with positive green and imperial green colors, have seen price increases far exceeding other categories. I once personally handled an ice-kind positive green cabochon weighing about 50 grams, which was purchased by a collector for 2 million yuan in 2015. At the end of last year, this collector entrusted me to sell it, and it ultimately sold for nearly 5 million yuan. This is not an isolated case, but a microcosm of the value return of high-quality jade.

Secondly, high cultural added value. Jade carries profound historical heritage and spiritual connotations in Chinese culture. A piece of jade with auspicious meaning and exquisite carving, its cultural value far exceeds the material itself. For example, some jade carving works by famous artists, their artistry and cultural connotations give them higher collection value. I once saw a Qing Dynasty imperial jade carving; although the material was not top-notch, its exquisite craftsmanship and historical background made it repeatedly achieve excellent results at auctions.

Furthermore, high craftsmanship. Jade cannot be made into a vessel without carving. Exquisite carving craftsmanship can elevate an ordinary piece of jade to the level of an artwork. Excellent jade carvers, their works themselves are a form of art investment. I know a young jade carver whose works have a unique style, integrating traditional and modern elements. Although his output is not high, every piece is highly sought after, and prices have been rising year by year.

Finally, scarcity. Natural jade resources are non-renewable. Especially high-quality jade, its mining is difficult, and production is limited. Rarity makes it precious; this is an eternal market law. For example, high-quality Hetian jade "seed material," due to over-exploitation, its scarcity is becoming increasingly prominent, and prices are soaring.

My second viewpoint is: jade investment should focus on "diversified allocation and long-term holding." In the current market environment, putting all your eggs in one basket is extremely unwise. Investors should diversify their portfolios according to their financial strength, risk tolerance, and investment goals. For example, one could allocate a portion to high-quality jadeite, a portion to culturally valuable Hetian jade, and even consider some niche but potentially huge jade categories, such as Nan Hong agate and Warring States Red agate.

At the same time, jade investment is not short-term speculation, but a value investment that requires long-term holding. The value growth of jade often needs time to settle and manifest. Short-term market fluctuations do not fully reflect its true value. I have a client who purchased a high-quality ice-kind jadeite bangle in the early 2000s for 200,000 yuan. He has treasured it to this day. Although the market has had several ups and downs during this period, he has never wavered. Today, the market valuation of this bangle has exceeded 3 million yuan. This fully illustrates the value of long-term holding.

Of course, when investing in jade, professional discernment and reliable channels are crucial. I advise investors to seek professional help when purchasing jade, choose reputable dealers, and request authoritative appraisal certificates. Avoid blindly following trends, and be wary of false advertising and inferior products in the market.

In summary, I believe that the current jade investment market is undergoing a profound reshuffle and upgrade. It is no longer simply "buying on the rise and not on the fall," but returning to a deep exploration and rational judgment of the intrinsic value of jade itself. For investors with vision, patience, and professional knowledge, this is undoubtedly an era full of opportunities.
