Jadeite has excellent thermal conductivity, so it feels uniquely cool to the touch. Moreover, natural jadeite has a high density (3.33g/cm³), making it feel heavy in the hand, with a noticeable '坠手感' (weighty feel).

* Natural Jadeite: It will feel cool when first touched, gradually becoming warm and moist after a while. The polished surface will be very smooth, yet possess a special 'oily luster', not the dull glass-like sheen. My personal experience is that a good piece of natural jadeite, once in hand, will have a warm and moist feel that makes you reluctant to put it down.
* B-grade, C-grade, or Imitations: B-grade, due to resin filling, will feel lighter and may have a sticky sensation on the surface. Imitations like glass or plastic will feel light, warm up quickly, and lack that unique coolness and weighty feel.

This method is mainly applicable to jadeite bangles or larger pendants. Gently tap it with another piece of jadeite or a coin and listen to the sound it produces.

* Natural Jadeite: The sound is clear, melodious, with a metallic quality, and lingering resonance. Especially for jadeite with good 'zhongshui' (translucency and texture), the sound will be even more pleasing to the ear. I once heard the sound of a high-ice grade bangle at an auction, it was simply heavenly, unforgettable.

* C-grade (Dyed Jadeite): The color will appear overly vibrant, exaggerated, and unnatural.
