B-grade jadeite, treated with acid and resin, will have a 'floating' color that lacks the natural vibrancy of untreated jadeite; C-grade is dyed, and the color often appears overly vibrant and unnatural.

* Clarity and Translucency (种水): This refers to the texture and transparency of the jadeite. It's one of the key factors determining its value.
* Clarity (种): From best to worst: glass-like (玻璃种), ice-like (冰种), glutinous ice-like (糯冰种), glutinous (糯种), and bean-like (豆种). Glass-like is as clear and transparent as glass, ice-like is crystal clear like ice, and glutinous is like cooked glutinous rice, with a fine texture.
