Ultimately, a spectrometer test confirmed that it was an optimized Southern Red Agate, with its color achieved through high-temperature heating and dyeing. This case made me deeply realize that relying solely on visual inspection and experience often falls short when confronted with high-tech counterfeiting.

So, what is the "new normal" for Southern Red Agate authentication? I believe it is a comprehensive authentication system that combines traditional experience with modern scientific technology.

Firstly, traditional experience remains the foundation. Understanding the geological characteristics, mineralogical features, and historical and cultural background of Southern Red Agate is indispensable for any authentication expert. For example, the warm and moist feel of Liangshan Lianhe material, the cinnabar spots of Baoshan material, and the gelatinous quality of Jiukou material are all unique hallmarks of natural Southern Red Agate. These are natural Southern Red Agates that have undergone optimization treatments to enhance their appearance. For these types of Southern Red Agate, we cannot simply classify them as fakes. Instead, we must clearly inform consumers about the treatment methods and reasonably assess their value based on the degree of treatment. This is not only responsible to consumers but also a necessary measure to maintain healthy market development.
