For instance, a few years ago, a fully green jadeite bangle with coarse texture might have commanded a higher price than an ice-jadeite pendant with floating patterns and exquisite carving. But now, if an ice-jadeite pendant with floating patterns reaches high-ice or even glass-like texture and transparency, and its carving is by a renowned master, its market value often surpasses that "color-rich" piece. This is because the rarity and potential for appreciation of high-texture and high-transparency jadeite far exceed those of jadeite valued solely for its color.

My advice is: when appraising jadeite, first look at "texture" (种 - zhǒng), which is the soul of jadeite, determining its quality and luster. Second, look at "transparency" (水 - shuǐ); good transparency makes it vibrant, while poor transparency makes it dull. Then, observe the "color" (色 - sè), which should be pure, rich, vibrant, and even. Finally, assess the "craftsmanship" (工 - gōng); ingenious carving can imbue jadeite with higher artistic value. Only by organically combining these four elements can one truly grasp the intrinsic value of jadeite.

II. The Growing Importance of Origin Traceability and Certification

With technological advancements and consumers' rising demands for product quality, the importance of jadeite origin traceability and authoritative certification has become unprecedentedly prominent.

Previously, many jadeite transactions relied on "eyesight" and "experience." However, consumers now prefer jadeite with clear origin information and authoritative appraisal certificates. Especially for high-value jadeite, origin information (such as material from old mines in Myanmar) and certificates issued by international and domestic authoritative institutions like GIA and NGTC have become crucial benchmarks for assessing its value and authenticity.

I once encountered a case where a collector purchased a piece of jadeite claimed to be "old mine glass-jadeite." However, due to the lack of an authoritative certificate, he faced significant resistance when trying to resell it, ultimately having to sell it below market price. In contrast, another collector, despite purchasing jadeite at a slightly higher price, received a higher return on their investment because it came with detailed origin proof and an NGTC certificate.

Therefore, I strongly advise all investors, when purchasing jadeite, to always request and carefully verify authoritative appraisal certificates, and to inquire about the jadeite's origin information as much as possible. This not only protects your own rights but also safeguards the value of your investment.

III. New Investment Trends: Focusing on Niche Boutique Pieces and Cultural Added Value

Beyond traditional categories like jadeite bangles and pendants, I've noticed a growing interest in the market for niche boutique pieces and jadeite products with cultural added value.

For example, some uniquely designed and exquisitely crafted jadeite inlaid jewelry perfectly combine the warmth of oriental jade with the splendor of Western jewelry, making them highly popular among the younger generation of consumers. These products often break free from the traditional aesthetic framework of jadeite, emphasizing fashion and personalized expression.

Furthermore, some jadeite artworks with historical and cultural backgrounds or created by renowned jade carving masters possess value far exceeding their material worth. These pieces are not merely jadeite; they are carriers of culture, art, and the spirit of craftsmanship. Their investment value, in addition to the scarcity of the material, lies in their unique cultural attributes and artistic merit.
