Core Techniques: Moisture-Proof and Sun-Proof, Dual Approach

Jade, especially nephrite, contains a certain amount of moisture in its internal structure. Excessive dryness or humidity can adversely affect it. And the ultraviolet rays in sunlight are the 'invisible killers' of jade, accelerating its aging, causing it to lose water, change color, and even crack.

  • Sun-Proofing: Keep Away from Direct Sunlight, Choose a Suitable Display Environment

* Avoid Windows and Balconies: This is the most basic principle. Direct sunlight not only increases the surface temperature of the jade, leading to moisture loss, but also accelerates the oxidation of its internal minerals, affecting the jade quality and color. My pebble was a painful lesson.
* Choose Backlit or Diffused Light Areas: If you like to display your jade, you can choose a backlit indoor location or use a display cabinet with UV filtering. I personally prefer using specialized display cabinets, which can both prevent dust and effectively block UV rays.
